I hope my next dentist does not like plants

What do you think makes a musician (or anyone for that matter) write about Dublin? What’s the inspiration?

I ask myself these questions when I hear songs like “All the girls love Alice” by Elton John and “Blessed” by Simon and Garfunkel. These are common songs you would hear while sitting in your Dublin dentists reception area while waiting for a treatment, like cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/articles/root-canal.html therapy or fillings. There’s not just a sing-a-long value, but a sense of take-your-mind-off of being in a dentistry practice. There are loads of songs written about places in Dublin too, even Ballad of Bethnal Green by Paddy Roberts.

All these musical reminiscences of Dublin engulfed my mind one time at the dentist when I entirely forgot where I was until the receptionist said: “Did you hear, Dr Chivaz has put this guide to buying dental practices?”

My mind had been humming away when her voice sweetly interrupted the harmony with that statement. “Huh?” Popped out my mouth and with that Steve Martin came to mind in Little Shop of Horrors and I thought: “What if my next dentist is Orin Scrivello?!”
