Smile makeovers; the facts explained with the options

A great smile as nature intended is now easier to get, and within the budget of most of us. Veneers are the top choice of people who are looking for a smile makeover from a cosmetic dentist. The latest trend is a Lumineer, this is a veneer that is ultra thin and needs little more than two visits to the dentist. They can last for up to 20 years and the procedure can even be reversed later on, now that’s value for money in my book. On your first visit you`ll have an inspection and a clean up of your natural teeth, the dentist will now make a mould of the teeth that you want covered over. This can be one tooth or a whole row. The mould will give the Lumineer maker an exact impression of the teeth, this will ensure that you get a perfect fit, and also allow the orthodontist to compensate for any gaps that you wish to reduce or cover over completely. On the second visit you`ll be pleasantly surprised to learn that unlike normal ceramic veneers, you won`t need to have any of your natural enamel removed in able to be have them fitted. A slight roughening is all that is needed here, then the Lumineer is placed on the tooth and a light will be used to `cure` the setting and give it a good adhesion. If you prefer a thicker ceramic veneer then your dentist will proceed in the same fashion, once the veneer is ready they will need to numb the area and start shaving the natural enamel to the depth of the veneer. This type needs to be embedded as part of the tooth and the thinner type of the veneers lasts up till around 3-5 years, but like the thicker ones they are easily replaced. They will eventually become discoloured with age, but replacing them is easy enough. Lumineer’s are the latest revelation of this particular dental cosmetic treatment, and it has been very welcome. They are of course cheaper as well and like traditional veneers they cover all sorts of teeth defects, the most common is discolouration, then chipped and cracked molars with gaps and misaligned teeth coming last in the decision to have this type of smile makeover. A nice confident smile has also emerged as a morale booster to many people, so a smile makeover may be worth a lot more to you than just whiter teeth.
